About ORF

The friends and members of the Ozark Riverways Foundation, in collaboration with the National Park Service, work to enhance public understanding and appreciation of the Current and Jacks Fork rivers. We achieve this through a diverse array of approaches, including educational programs, engaging river activities, and promoting hiking along the scenic trails surrounding these rivers.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Ozark Riverways Foundation is to work in cooperation with, and to support the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, a unit of the National Park Service. Foremost is the preservation and promotion of the Current and Jacks Fork rivers. Our goals are to deliver programs for scientific, historical, cultural, educational, ecological, recreational, agricultural and scenic opportunities. We are a “friends group” with the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. We will partner with the Ozark National Scenic Riverways in activities that may include fundraising, volunteerism, education, advocacy and research.

Current River Challenge

NPS Ranger Dave Tobey invites you to complete the Current River Challenge. Video by Ryan Hanlon and Route 3 Films

These videos are brought to you by Ryan Hanlon and Route 3 Films who have been supporting the Ozark National Scenic Riverways for many years. Ryan is a veteran trail builder with the Ozark Trail Association and participated in the Round Spring trail builds to connect the Trail to the River. He and his assistant director, Alan Shawgo, donated time and resources to the region to document the floods of 2017. Ryan and his team created a Round Spring Cave tour video for visitors that were unable to visit the cave during Covid. Ryan has also donated films about the people who work with the park such as our own Dave Tobey and Monty Heise. When Ryan and his team were working on the Cave video, they had the foresight to save the only known cave map of Round Spring Cave. If they did not, the map would have been lost in the recent fire at Round Spring Ranger Station. Since then, Ryan and Route 3 Films donated a reprint of the map in a beautiful frame that will be hung in the new ranger station for all to enjoy. Ryan is also a Lifetime River Guardian member of the Ozark Riverways Foundation.
